The
goodness of God never ceases to amaze me, and music
illustrates the point for me. Our awesome God designs
His children in such a way that using their gifts
glorifies Him, delights others, and brings great joy to
them. If it is true that “God is most glorified in me
when I am most satisfied in Him,” then my satisfaction
in and enjoyment of music in all its dimensions surely
must praise and honor Him.
I have loved all
kinds of music for as long as I can remember. Whether
making up songs, falling asleep with the radio tucked
under my pillow, dancing, or playing the piano, music
has long been an outlet for personal pleasure as well as
worship. Cutting “Testimony of Grace” with Adam
fulfilled a dream encouraged for years by friends and
family who, for some reason, always wanted us to sing,
and keep singing. I’m grateful for the investment of
teachers and critics from my days of playing
“Chopsticks” on the piano and wisping through “Tan Shoes
and Pink Shoelaces” to directing the EXCEL choir and
singing with our friends at Park Cities Presbyterian
Church.
When not singing,
I enjoy spending time with family and friends (made all
that more delightful when it involves coffee), reading
everything from John Piper to Elizabeth Peters
(especially when it’s cold and rainy outside and I’m
curled up under a fleecy blanket), and exercising
(whether it’s jogging, Pilates, or downhill skiing). My
goals for this year include continuing to pursue a
Masters degree through Westminster Seminary, getting my
manuscript published – finally! – and singing as much as
possible. |
